Reflexology was the first treatment I ever learnt and so will always hold a very special place in my heart.  I started off by attending a Taster course way back in 2000 and was absolutely fascinated by the fact you could apply pressure to an area on your foot and it causes a reaction somewhere else in your body! Blinking amazing!  I was very soon hooked and decided to train as a reflexologist – for fun – as it fascinated me so much.  I soon realised that this was what I was meant to be doing, and so my life took a very different turn!

Since then I have studied many courses to enhance my reflexology skills including Conception, Maternity, Spinal, Reflexology Lymph Drainage and Hot Stone Reflexology.  There are so many conditions that benefit from a series of reflexology sessions and I have worked with literally thousands of clients over the last 17 years and it is my “go to” treatment because I’ve seen it works so many times!

Reflexology has been used by many civilisations for thousands of years, there is even pictographs depiciting reflexology in the Physicians Tomb in Egypt which are dating back to around 2330BC so the benefits of it have been known for quite a while!! Reflexology works on the basis that reflex areas on the feet correspond to reflex points on the body.  By stimulating these reflexes on your feet, it stimulates the particular area on the body it corresponds with and your body naturally begins to bring itself back into balance.   By helping to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium, reflexology encourages healing and helps us to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level.  It can also be done on the hands and the ears too!

A treatment involves applying specific thumb and finger movements to the feet, feeling for the subtle changes in your feet which can indicate an imbalance in that particular area. As this allows all systems of the body to be treated, whether its your hormones, your bones, your muscles or your organs, a Reflexology session is truly an holistic treatment that can have far-reaching effects physically, emotionally and also spiritually, and is definitely far more than just ‘a foot massage’!

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for: Migraine, Conception, Sleep Disorders, Constipation, IBS, Arthritis, Hormonal Imbalances, Back Problems, Digestive disorders, Sports Injuries, Stress-related conditions. As well as many other conditions.

During a treatment session I will start by having a consultation with you to determine what you want to achieve from the treatment. You then you get to lie down on my comfy warm couch, snuggled with blankets, listening to soft relaxing music and relax whilst I work with your feet.  A lot of my clients fall asleep as they find it very relaxing and this is absolutely fine with me.  At the end of the treatment I can let you know if I have picked up on any areas that may be a little out of balance for you at the moment.

In order to have a lasting effect on any conditions you may come to see me about, I would highly recommend a series of treatment sessions, close together (at least weekly to start with) in order for your body to start to heal itself and bring balance back to your bodily functions and systems.  I normally recommend 6 sessions but each person is very much individual and so a treatment plan is tailor-made for you and your conditions, and I may suggest combining reflexology with other treatments to get the best results for you.

Individual treatments are also a wonderful way of relaxing and are great for “maintenance” to keep your body ticking over once you have completed a course of treatments.
